MUD AND MIRE
/“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” (Psalm 40:2)
A friend and I were sharing about general stressors of life and how they were affecting us. We laughed as we talked about the common things that can get under our skin. Then she gave me a word picture that I will forever remember (I’m sure of it!)
She said, “As I sat here in my house and look at the clutter – the stacks of paper, boxes, and just STUFF – surrounding me and threatening to take me under, I began talking to The Lord,”
Jesus, I KNOW that if You can lift me out of the mud and the mire, then You can lift me out of the mess in my house.
We then talked about the image of “floating above” all the mess surrounding us that greatly annoys us and seeing ourselves “up and over it” as if we are gazing down from His Throne and being at peace through His Power.

Perhaps you should pause and ask Jesus to lift you out of your “slimy pit” and set your feet (and perspective) on His Rock, giving you a firm place to stand.
Simple Truth. Powerful God Over All Of Our Messes.
Dear Father, You are such a gracious God to give us such grace and insight in all of the messes of our lives. Teach us to view the things in this life in the way YOU see them. Help us to always think “eternally” and not get so caught up in “things of the flesh.” In the Name of Jesus, Amen
